Who we are…
The caving club 6-17 TOPAS (Topographic Amateur Society) founded in 1977 is a member of the Czech Speleological Society (CSS) and similarly to it joins people concerned with speleology and caves generally. We have 18 regular members at this time (2008).
Aims
The main goal of our club is to investigate unknown or unexplored caves and caving systems as well as other karst forms/features including their documentation, mapping, registration, conservation and other survey and research leading to explanation of their speleogenesis, geologic/hydro-geologic function and interconnection with other surrounding karst systems.
Publication and expedition activities of our members are remarkable too.
Our target is also cooperation with other caving clubs participated in the CSS or existing in the world with using of our more than 30 years experience.
We are able to take advantage of our skills proven by long practice and shortly summarize below to assist with:
- surface reconnaissance and selection of localities suitable for other speleological survey
- preparing of exploration/survey plan
- organization of working activities incl. digging works generally
- activities leading to easy cave accessibility with usage of pyro-cartridges (HILTI)
- speleoalpinism, climbing and other related activities
- mapping activities
- documentation of discoveries and caves generally
- photo documentation
- cave entry arrangement
- permanent monitoring of the locality and data completion

Territory of the regular research
The place of our regular exploration is the northern part of Moravian Karst, namely the western streams of the Punkva river in region of village Suchdol.
The Vavrinec creek, the Veselice creek and other small periodic streams created very complicated underground drainage systems there and they are the main targets of our regular research.
